[Well, I'm writing an iddy-fic that kinda fits so...]
"Do you mind me asking why you'd only speak to a female officer?" Taylor asked.
"It's not for my benefit," Dr. Morton replied. "I thought that speaking with one of the menikor might help with your investigation, but they have a rigid social structure - the sexes that most closely conform to human females are at the top; the one that most closely conforms to human male is very firmly at the bottom; and so far they've shown no interest in respecting our patriarchy." She stopped at a door and turned to look at Taylor, raising one eyebrow. "I'll be blunt, I have a feeling that one of your male colleagues getting tomslapped into next week for being 'uppity' might impede an interview."
She was probably right, but Taylor couldn't help but feel a little wistful that O'Connell hadn't come with her. Still, at least she could enjoy the mental image.
